Another fly fishing summer is near and spring is on it’s way. In the Northern part of River Glomma’s valley there is quite a bit of snow in the mountains, and it looks like we might have plenty of water in the river. You can follow the snow depth and the melting of snow on https://www.senorge.no/map

I am really looking forward to this summer, and I hope I can spend a lot of hours in and along river Glomma. At this moment Norway has removed all the regulatory measures against COVID-19, and planning a fly fishing trip to KFF is very well possible again.

One could say the good thing about these two last Covid-19 years, for river Glomma and her fish stocks,  was the very low fishing pressure. There have been only a few fly fishermen around and this surely must result in fantastic fly fishing conditions at Kvennan Fly Fishing.

The hydroelectric power plant that is build upstream of the Kvennan Fly Fishing zone, has been in production  since May 2021. Because of Covid-19 I was not in Norway last summer, and I haven’t seen the impact of the power plant with my own eyes, but I have been in contact with several fly fishermen that know our river stretch very well. The general opinion is that the fishing at KFF has not been influenced at all by the power plant, the fishing was good last summer and the hatches were plentiful.

We have renewed our website www.kvennan.com with a fresh design, all the information from the old website is still there, but in a new layout. Of course I will make weekly updates (sometimes daily updates, if the fishing is spectacular) this summer. You can find the fishing reports here : https://kvennan.com/fly-fishing-in-glomma/fly-fishing-reports/

Maybe you haven’t seen these fishing reports before. It might very well be a good idea to have a good look around, there are reports describing 14 summers of fly fishing river Glomma. If you spend some time on it, you will find out which insects hatch when and where, what might be the best month and week to visit KFF, over the years and between the lines you can see the impact of good river management on grayling stocks. There are lots of nice pictures and quite a few fly fishing – and fly tying videos.
